Adaptive Technology Services – We supply various environmental controls, switches, communication devices, software and other products such as hands-free telephones and stove guards. For more information about specific products, please contact Gene Jeanson at (306) 374-4448 or by email at adaptivetechnology@abilitiescouncil.sk.ca.

Special Needs Equipment - We offer a range of mobility aids and other equipment to aid independent living. Some of this equipment will be prescribed by your health care professional; some items you can buy yourself.

Orthopaedics - Orthopaedic products are offered by the Council through our Provincial Services office in Saskatoon. These products fall into three categories: orthotics, prosthetics and pedorthics (also referred to as orthopaedic footwear). Orthotic and prosthetic services require a requisition from a medical professional and most products are covered by Saskatchewan Health or other funding agencies. Some Pedorthic products can be purchased directly by individuals. Please check with our office regarding specific items.

Orthotics refers to braces or supports such as leg braces, back braces, and splints. It also includes specialized wheelchair seating, a form of bracing which involves inserts for wheelchairs.

Prosthetics includes replacement limbs and related products.

Pedorthics (orthopaedic footwear) includes products for foot comfort like arch support and a wide range of other services such as shoe raises and modifications, toe fillers, partial foot prosthesis and custom manufactured footwear. We also carry hard-to-find items such as baby shoes that will work with leg braces and therapeutic footwear.

For more information about Orthopaedic services or to book an appointment, please contact (306) 374-4400.
